Wins followed by interesting celebrations make them even better. The same happened after Lorenzo Musetti defeated Slovakia's Norbert Gombos on Saturday. Musetti's efforts helped Italy to make it to the finals of the Davis Cup. While he was talking at the post-match presentation, he was soaked by his teammates in water.

Musetti, unaware of his teammates' plans, was talking normally to the reporter. But soon he was attacked by his allies from behind and was soaked in water. The Italian found three bottles of water being emptied on him. He could do nothing but just surrender as his mates came charging to him.

Musetti wins comprehensively

Coming to the match, it was a great game of tennis with both players trying hard to create a chance for their country. However, Musetti proved too hot to handle for Gombos as the Slovakian lost in straight sets. The first set was a hard-fought one with Musetti winning 7-6 (7-3) eventually. In the second set, the Slovakian got no chance as he was defeated 2-6. In the third set, Gombos tried to make a comeback but was handed a 4-6 defeat. The match went on for two hours and twenty-four minutes.

“I’m really proud of myself for what I achieved today," said Musetti. "For sure it’s an honour for me to wear this colour of my country, I played with my heart. I have to thank the captain for trusting me. It’s really amazing what we achieved," he added.

The win by Italy was by no means an easy one like their Qualifiers against India in 2019 and against Korea Republic in 2020. But Filippo Volandri's men showed extreme grit to reach the finals for the first time. "I’m really proud of my guys, my team," said Volandri. "I didn’t expect the Slovak players to play like that, that’s why I need to congratulate all of them – especially [Filip] Horansky. They played an unbelievable match, but we never gave up."
