Devendra Jhajharia achieved his personal best score

When Jhajharia recorded a score of 64.35 meters, he achieved his personal best score as he surpassed his previous best score of 63.97 meters. The veteran thrower has always ensured a good performance for India at the biggest stage. He won two gold medals in 2004 and 2016. He was happy at his win and not bothered about missing the gold medal. “In sport and competition these kinds of things happen. There are always ups and downs. I did my best and bettered my personal best but it so happened that it was his day (Sri Lanka's Dinesh Priyan Herath Mudiyanselage),” said Devendra Jhajharia.

The India Prime Minister also acknowledged Jhajharia's achievement. "Super performance by @DevJhajharia!. One of our most experienced athletes wins a Silver medal. Devendra has been making India continuously proud,” he tweeted.

India has outdone themselves in terms of winning medals this year. They have won four medals more than what they won at the Rio Olympics 2016. Also, they have already surpassed their highest-ever medal tally with a week left in the event.
