Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr has been in scintillating form in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) this season despite the struggles of his team in the competition, finding themselves in 16th place in the 36-team competition. After the 24-year-old scored two goals in Real Madrid 5-1 win against RB Salzburg, former French footballer and pundit Thierry Henry called him the best player of the UCL this season, while talking about his consistency across seasons.

In the ongoing UCL 2024-25 season, Vinicius Jr has scored seven goals and provided one assist in six matches for Real Madrid despite the fact that the defending champions are yet to make it through to the knockout round of the competition with one league stage match remaining. Across 41 matches in the UEFA Champions League in the last four seasons, Vinicius Jr has scored 24 goals and provided 17 assists, to emerge as one of the most reliable players at such a young age.

Consistency, to do one thing for one season is something but he keeps on doing it: Thierry Henry

On the Sky Sports live broadcast of the UCL, Jamie Carragher questioned Thierry Henry, “Is it fair to say since we have been here as a group, Vinicius Jr has been the best UCL player?” In response, the former French footballer had no hesitation in accepting that by saying, ““Yes, you have to give him that.. Consistency, to do one thing for one season is something but he keeps on doing it. Remember how he arrived and how people were doubting him. Outstanding.”

Moreover, in the last four seasons of La Liga, Vinicius Jr has performed just as exceptionally well in the UEFA Champions League, scoring 50 goals and providing 36 assists in 109 matches. He will be looking to continue his good run in the league during his next fixture for Real Madrid against Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium, to help extend the lead at the top of the La Liga standings since they are currently two points ahead of city rivals Atletico Madrid.
