The ongoing season of IPL 2021 has entered the business end of season and it was time for a probable knockout clash in Sharjah on Tuesday. Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals, two teams on 10 points with two games remaining, were up against each other and were looking for a win to push their case further in the race to qualify for play-offs.

Sanju Samson's side lost the toss and were asked to bat first and they were off to a very difficult start. Trent Boult bowled the first over of the match and the RR openers were literally left wounded by the end of the over.

Tough start for RR openers in Sharjah

On the 3rd delivery of the first over, Evin Lewis tried to play an on-drive on a full delivery but found an inside edge as the ball seemed to have struck on his right foot (ankle). He looked in lot of pain and was visibly seen struggling while taking a single on the next delivery.

With one opener slightly hurt, Boult doubled the damage for RR couple of balls later as Yashasvi Jaiswal also edged the ball before getting hit on his knee. After the end of over, the physios rushed on the ground to check on the two openers, with Lewis looking in more trouble than Jaiswal.

Luckily for RR, both the in-form openers were fine to continue as they added 27 runs in 3.4 overs before Jaiswal was dismissed by Nathan Coulter-Nile.
