American social media personality Dr. Umar Johnson made serious accusations against Kobe Bryant’s wife Vanessa Bryant. Umar accused Vanessa of not using Kobe Bryant’s money towards black empowerment initiatives. Johnson appeared on the Joe Budden Podcast and said that Vanessa, who inherited a total of $600 million from her husband, hasn’t used the money in a way that the late basketball star would have liked.
Vanessa Bryant worked on Kobe Bryant’s charity operations after his death in January 2020. The 42-year-old maintained the legacy of the Kobe & Vanessa Bryant Family Foundation. The foundation is “dedicated to improving the lives of youth and families in need, and encouraging young people to stay active through sports.” The Black Mamba, as Kobe was known, started the foundation alongside his wife in 2006.
The American motivational speaker stated, "Vanessa[Bryant] inherited his [Kobe’s] wealth. Is Vanessa Bryant using any of that black man’s money to do any good in the black community? Absofu**inglutely not.” He then added, “No one knows that,” before saying, “Vannesa Bryant just started an initiative with three predominantly white colleges, some sort of a sports initiative with Kobe’s money and Kobe’s name, didn’t a single HBCU.”

Coming back to the foundation started by Kobe, it has provided scholarships to minority college students while partnering with Make A Wish Foundation. Apart from this, the model also handles the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation. It is named after Kobe and daughter Gianni “Gigi” Bryant and it came into existence shortly after they died in 2020. Vanessa donated $16 million to the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation after winning the lawsuit that she had sued Los Angeles County for causing emotional distress.
