T he Pat Cummins-led SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) are hosting the reigning champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in match 18 of the IPL 2024. However, it was the home skipper who came out on top in the toss battle and invited the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side to put the score first on the board. For the visitors, it was Shivam Dube’s knock of 45 runs that helped them post 165/5 in their stipulated 20 overs.
However, during Ravindra Jadeja’s stay in the middle, who played a quick cameo of 23-ball 31*, the Indian all-rounder survived a bizarre dismissal. The incident took place on the fourth ball of the 19th over, which was being bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Jadeja played the yorker straight with Bhuvneshwar collecting it in time and seeing the batter out of the crease, the baller tried to hit the stumps.
Just at this moment, Jadeja who was looking back and was quick to enter the crease, got hit by the ball. Following the incident, the on-field umpires decided to go to the third umpire in order to check ‘obstructing the field’ dismissal. Here, the SRH skipper withheld the spirit of the game and decided to withdraw the appeal, a gesture which has been going viral.
Talking about the match, the Gaikwad-led side posted 165/5 in their 20 overs. While the opening pair of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra once again failed to score big, it was Ajinkya Rahane’s 30-ball 35 and Shivam Dube’s 24-ball 45 along with and unbeaten knock of 31 from Ravindra Jadeja that helped CSK post a decent core on the board.
