The second-most grand slam winner of all time with 23 titles, Serena Williams has delayed her retirement with the first round win against Danka Kovinic of Montenegro 6-3, 6-3 at the Arthur Ashe Stadium on Monday in the ongoing US Open 2022. After her win, the fans displayed a heartfelt gesture to surprise the 40-year-old tennis star.

The six-time US Open winner, Serena Williams is expected to play her last tournament in New York before taking retirement. Serena will next face World No 2  Anett Kontaveit of Estonia in the second round of the women's singles US Open fixture on Wednesday.

After the game on Monday, the US Open fans surprised the American tennis legend with a heartwarming arena card that read, "We love Serena." Apart from that, tennis legend Billie Jean King also showered her love over Serena. Watch the viral surprise video here:

Serena Williams thanked the fans for their support and said post-match, "I always feel so comfortable on this court. When I step on the court I just want to do the best I can. The crowd was crazy. It really helped pull me through."

Meanwhile, Serena will partner with her sister Venus Williams for women's doubles match against Lucie Hradecka and Linda Nosková of Czech Republic on Wednesday.
