Australia Test opener Usman Khawaja is enjoying his purple patch after he scored his maiden ton in England in the longest format of the game. The 36-year-old, who remains unbeaten at 126 off 279 deliveries is leading his side to put a considerable lead in the opening Ashes Test in Edgbaston.

 

After a brilliant performance with the bat, the Aussie opener attended the post-day press conference. He was joined by his daughter Aisha in the presser. In a hilarious turn of event, Aisha was caught browsing through a journalist’s phone as the cricketer answered the question of one of the media personnel.

To add more, while Usman was caught stopping his daughter from doing so loud on the mic, everyone was left in splits after they got to know the same.

 

Khawaja opens up on his ecstatic celebration

 

The Australian opener was overjoyed after his smashed his maiden ton in England.  With this, he also became the second Australia opener to score a Test hundred at Edgbaston after Mark Taylor’s 129 in 1997. Additionally, he now joins Joe Root as with joint most Test centuries since 2022 with seven hundreds.

 

Talking about his celebration, Usman added that it was a combination of three Ashes tours, after being dropped in two of them. “I think it was a combination of three Ashes tours in England and being dropped in two of them,” Khawaja said in the press conference.
