It's been a crazy day in Bengaluru as India and Sri Lanka locked horns in the pink-ball Test. The pitch has behaved rather indifferently and has proven to be a nightmare for batsmen. Shreyas Iyer was probably the only player who looked comfortable as his impressive 92-run knock helped India post a total of 252 on board.

The onus was then on Indian bowlers and they certainly did not disappoint. The pace duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami bowled a lethal spell with the new ball to destroy the top order of visitors. However, the crowd was behind only one man on Saturday: Virat Kohli.

Kohli shows his class in Bengaluru

The former RCB captain is playing in Bengaluru after a long time in front of a crowd and the local fans did not miss any opportunity to show their love for Kohli. From giving him a standing ovation when he came to bat to chanting his name loudly when India came to field, the scenes at Chinnaswamy Stadium have been absolutely mesmerizing.

But what Kohli did during the third session was a pure example of why he is loved so much in the country. When the crowd was screaming his name, Kohli (who was standing at slips) gestured that the fans need to cheer for the bowler Mohammed Shami, who was in the middle of a brilliant fiery spell.

As expected, the fans did not disappoint Kohli and in a matter of a few seconds, 'Shami Shami' chants erupted the stadium giving more confidence to India's bowler.

Notably, there was also a moment when Kohli asked people to cheer for India instead of RCB inside the stadium. Talking about the match, after Bumrah took two early wickets, Shami clean bowled SL captain Dimuth Karunaratne with a peach of a delivery to put the opponents in a spot of bother, with the scoreboard reading 14/3.
