Indian batter Virat Kohli shared a hilarious moment with South African stand-in captain Dean Elgar during the second Test. The incident occurred in India's first innings when South Africa went up for a DRS as Virat Kohli was hit on the pads. Kohli was batting at 20 in 55 balls in Marco Jansen's sixth over.

As the decision went to the third umpire, Kohli was deemed not as the impact of the ball was slightly above the stumps leading the decision to be umpire's call. With the play being halted, Kohli got a chance to chat with Elgar and remind him of a similar incident from the 2021 series.

Referring to the infamous Cape Town Test, Kohli kidded, “Should have been as high as Ash to you.” The reference was to Kohli and his team's frustrated reaction over an overturned LBW decision that deemed Elgar not out. The South African went on to play a crucial knock as the Proteas won the game.

Further talking about the 2021 Cape Town Test, R Ashwin, Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul also expressed displeasure caught by the stump mic. After the on-field decision was reversed, Ashwin went back to his run-up and was heard saying, "You should find better way to win 'SuperSport'" (Host broadcaster), while KL Rahul could be heard saying: Whole country playing against 11 guys."
