India took on Australia on the first day of the third Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2022-23 on Wednesday. Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first. But the Australian bowling attack led by Matthew Kuhnemann (5/16) proved too hot to handle for the hosts as they got bundled out for 109. Five of the eleven batters got out in single digits.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli once again put on a batting tutorial for the youngsters as he flawlessly played 51 balls before falling to Todd Murphy. Then while fielding, Kohli left his fans chuckling by breaking into an impromptu dance. Kohli, who is always energetic in the field was seen doing a “Badtameez Dil” like dance step while fielding in slips.

Coming back to Kohli’s batting, the 34-year-old looked untroubled on a pitch that was turning from ball one. The batter hit two boundaries and scored 22 runs in total (the most by any Indian in the first innings) before he failed to keep one from Murphy away from his pads. Nevertheless, it was an indication that a big score from the former India captain is around the corner.

Meanwhile, the other batters just could not stand against the turning deliveries from Kuhnemann and Lyon (3/35). Shubman Gill played some attacking shots but could not resist long enough. Captain Rohit Sharma then desperately stepped out only to get stumped. Cheteshwar Pujara got a vicious delivery from Lyon while Ravindra Jadeja could not make the most of his promotion.

KS Bharat also faltered after showing some promise. Axar Patel, meanwhile, was left stranded as his last partner, Mohammed Siraj got run out.
