India batting icon Virat Kohli lifted skipper Rohit Sharma off the ground in celebration after Mohammad Shami dismissed Moeen Ali in the ODI World Cup 2023. India locked horns with 2019 winners England in their sixth clash of the ongoing tournament on October 29, Sunday, at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. England skipper Jos Buttler won the toss and invited the rivals to bat first. The Indian team posted a score of 229 runs at a loss of nine wickets.

In the second innings, both Indian greats shared a heartening moment as Kohli hugged Sharma after Mohammad Shami dismissed Moeen Ali in the 24th over. Ali returned to the pavilion after scoring 15 runs off 31 balls as India celebrated their sixth success for the night. As the English batter was walking off the field, Kohli and Sharma ran towards each other before Kohli lifted the latter off the ground with joy.

Coming back to the match, the visitors took early control of the game as they forced India’s batting force of Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer to walk back on small scores. However, skipper Rohit Sharma’s 87 and Suryakumar Yadav’s 49 helped the team find some stability.
In the second inning, the hosts came back stronger to give a major jolt to the Englishmen. The two-time champions showed no mercy with their deadly bowling and destroyed the entire English batting lineup at 129 runs to extend their win streak to 6-0.
