On Monday, April 7, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) registered their first win in ten years at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai against the Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians (MI) in the onging Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. After being put to bat first, the Bengaluru-based franchise posted 221 runs in 20 overs, courtesy a 42-ball 67 from Virat Kohli, along with the skipper leading from the front with his 32-ball 64.

During Kohli’s 42-ball stay in the middle, he smashed the MI bowlers all around the ground with his innings being laced with eight fours and two maximums. While he lost his wicket in Hardik Pandya’s over with Naman Dhir completing an easy catch, but what followed did not please the fans much.

Hardik cut short Virat Kohli’s innings on the first ball of the 15th over. As he tried to get a top-edge off Hardik’s delivery, he just miscued the shot which went staright into the hands of youngster Naman Dhir at deep square leg. After his dismissal, Kohli just found hard to control his emotions and smashed his bat and threw his gloves in frustration in the dressing room.

Speaking of the 36-year-old’s inning, during his 42-ball stay, he became the first Indian to complete 13,000 runs in T20 cricket. He reached the landmark feat with his second fifty-plus inning in the ongoing IPL. Moreover, Kohli also amassed 838 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in T20s at an average of 55.86 and a strike rate of 149.64.
