Following the conclusion of the one-sided Ranji Trophy match in which Delhi defeated Railways by an innings and 19 runs, former Indian captain Virat Kohli signed an autograph for the opposing bowler Himanshu Sangwan after the latter reportedly reached out to him for the same. On his return to playing for Delhi in domestic cricket, Virat Kohli could only score six runs in 15 balls before the aforementioned right-arm pacer shattered his stumps
Notably, after getting the better of Virat Kohli in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 match, Himanshu Sangwan of Railways wasn’t a fan favourite at the Arun Jaitley Stadium or on the social media. Despite this, and the fact that his team lost to Delhi inside three days, Sangwan made the most out of sharing the same pavilion with Kohli, getting to talk to him apart from receiving an autograph on the match ball.

What a ball it was; it was a beautiful delivery. I really enjoyed that: Kohli to Sangwan
In an exclusive interview with Dainik Jagran, Himanshu Sangwan revealed what Virat Kohli told him when he reached out to him for an autograph. Kohli reportedly told Sangwan, “What a ball it was; it was a beautiful delivery. I really enjoyed that,” and after learning about the young pacer’s journey through Delhi’s under-age cricket, he remarked, “I've heard about you. You're a good bowler. Best wishes for the future.”
While Virat Kohli wasn’t a top performer in the Ranji Trophy clash for Delhi against Railways, his team’s captain Ayush Badoni scored 99 and Sumit Mathur got 86 in the first innings, while Shivam Sharma picked up a five-wicket haul in the second innings. Sumit Mathur was given the player of the match award for his all-round performance after scoring a fifty and dismissing three batters in total.
Regardless of the result in the match, both Delhi and Railways bowed out of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season without reaching the knockout stage.
