On Sunday, February 23, star Indian batter Virat Kohli finally ended his international century drought in a key match against arch-rivals Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The 36-year-old who was coming after playing a 22-run knock against Bangladesh in India’s Champions Trophy 2025 opener in Dubai, was seen in his prime as he scored a scintillating hundred off 111 deliveries to help the Men in Blue near semi-finals qualification.

Coming out to bat after skipper Rohit Sharma’s dismissal on Sunday, Virat Kohli first went on breach the 14000 ODI runs mark. While he became the fastest to reach 14000 runs, surpassing legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s record, he then went onto smash his 82nd international hundred and guide India to another victory.

With India nearing the 242-run target, Mohammad Rizwan re-introduced Khushdil Shah into the attack. While Kohli opted for a single on the first delivery of the 43rd over, he then went onto smash a boundary, as he guided India to victory and completed his ton at the same time. The 36-year-old quickly took off his helmet and raised his bat as he looked towards the heavens with a wide smile on his face.

Thereafter, Kohli emulated India’s T20I skipper, Suryakumar Yadav’s ‘calm-down’ celebration as he looked at someone in the dressing room, implying that everything in under control. He now sits two centuries clear of the great Sachin Tendulkar at the top of the ODI hundreds list, having crossed him with 50 ODI tons against New Zealand in Wankhede during the 2023 ODI World Cup.
