Former NFL player Willie McGinest is currently involved in another case where a guy claims that two years ago, after a dispute about gym equipment, McGinest and three other people assaulted him in a gym. The incident occurred on June 21, 2021, inside a 24 Hour Fitness facility in Long Beach, California, according to court records obtained by TMZ. Andrew Cortez, the plaintiff, claims that while he was using a bench press, one of his weights was stolen.
A former New England Patriots pass rusher was involved in the argument after the man confronted the individual before claiming that he was still using the weight. According to the lawsuit, McGinest struck Cortez in the face, who claims that three other men, including McGinest, attacked him after that and punched him between 30 to 40 times on the head and back.
Cortez also claims that he was left with wounds and bleeding, but the legal suit claims that 24-Hour Fitness workers eventually intervened and separated the parties involved. According to Cortez, he is still dealing with the psychological fallout and the wounds he received in the assault. He is suing for an unspecified sum of money in damages.
It's interesting to note that this is McGinest's second lawsuit this year involving assault claims. Another man, who claimed that the former professional football player had physically assaulted him after an altercation at an L.A. lounge in December 2022, filed a lawsuit against him earlier this year in March.
