Kieron Pollard, the Mumbai Indians (MI) batting coach, praised former captain Rohit Sharma for coming good in the last couple of matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, playing a key role with the bat in their wins. The 37-year-old sounded quite happy about his prediction coming true in regard to Rohit Sharma, wherein he had talked about how the class of Indian batter will come through in the IPL 2025 after a tough start to the season.
Notably, in his first six innings in the IPL 2025, Rohit Sharma could only score 82 runs, apart from missing one match in Lucknow due to a knee injury. But in his last two outings in the season with the bat, he scored 76* runs against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai before scoring 70 runs versus Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

In the press conference ahead of their clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at home, Kieron Pollard alluded to how he had spoken about not doubting the class of Rohit Sharma despite the tough start for him in the IPL 2025 campaign. He was quoted as saying, as per ESPNcricinfo, “If my memory serves me right, at the start of this competition, that question was different. I said sitting right here, we are also going to be singing his praises as an individual. For us, we always had that belief that he is going to come good.”
“There are dips. There is low confidence. But for someone who has played this sport for a long time, you have these moments. Sometimes you just need that extra support from people. Now we are singing his praises. We are all very happy in the Mumbai dressing room. We were happy at the start as well, knowing that it is going to happen, and long may it continue,” Kieron Pollard said further about Rohit Sharma’s surge in form with the bat in the last couple of matches in the IPL 2025.
With four wins in their last four matches in the ongoing IPL season, MI are peaking at the right time in the tournament with all playoff spots up for grabs.
