Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan has shown belief in MS Dhoni’s leadership for the Yellow Army’s comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. This year, CSK haven’t performed according to their reputation, winning only two games in eight outings. In their last game against their arch-rivals Mumbai Indians (MI) at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, they registered a crushing nine-wicket defeat, which has now made their chances of qualification to the playoffs unlikely. After MS Dhoni’s return to captaincy, CSK fans were expecting the turnaround but that didn’t happen as the Men in Yellow recorded two heavy defeats under the 43-year-old veteran in three matches.

During the crisis, the CSK CEO admitted his team’s underwhelming performance in the competition but also endorsed Dhoni to make Chennai bounce back in the tournament. "All of you will be a little bit disappointed with the performance of CSK this year. Of course, it’s bound to happen. We have had this earlier also. We know that we are not playing good cricket as of now. But we hope that in the coming matches, we will be able to do better. We have got someone of the calibre of Shivam Dube here. He has been doing so well over the years. And with someone like Thala being at the helm, it’s only a question of time before we come back," said Viswanathan to IANS.

CSK to host Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 25

Chennai will be expected to play quality cricket against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on April 25. This year, CSK have won only one match at home after appearing in their three encounters. In their last match at the home venue, they faced an eight-wicket drubbing at the hands of defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 11.

Like CSK, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) campaign is in peril as the Orange Army have also won only two matches in their seven outings. Sunrisers are currently in the ninth spot on the points table and Super Kings are at the bottom of the tally.
