India faced a defeat at the hands of Pakistan in their first Super 4 match on Sunday (4 September). It was a close-fought game that had many twists and turns. While India looked in control in the first half, Pakistan took an edge in the second half. However, in the last four overs, India tried to pull the game back. But a dropped catch proved too costly for India and they lost the match by five wickets.

After the defeat, Arshdeep Singh who dropped a dolly to give Asif Ali a second life faced a lot of heat from the fans. The trolling took a different angle altogether as the youngster was targeted over his religion. However, a few also defended Arshdeep. The 23-year-old got backing from fans as well as former cricketers.

Arshdeep Singh's parents also reacted to the negative criticism the pacer has been receiving after that dropped catch. Arshdeep’s mother and father both talked about Arshdeep’s performance and also said that they are taking all the comments made on the internet in a positive way.

"Everyone wants their team to win. When it does not happen, fans take out their anger on players through their words. We are taking this all in a positive manner. The match was pretty nice," said Arshdeep’s father Darshan Singh to ANI.

Meanwhile, Arshdeep’s mother Baljit Kaur said that people criticize a player because they love him.  "We also watched the first match and the second match was also good but silly mistakes happen and can happen by anyone. People have a habit to say, let them say. If people are commenting on it, it means they love him," said Baljit Kaur.

Singh also got plenty of support from his teammates as Virat Kohli backed the youngster to come good in the next game. Kohli said that anyone can make mistakes, but what's important is to accept them and learn from them.
