As In dia and Bangladesh are getting ready for their match on Wednesday (2 November), Shakib Al Hasan has made a rather bizarre statement. The Bangladesh captain has said that they have not come to Australia to win the World Cup but it’s India who are eyeing the title. With India losing to South Africa in their last group-stage game, the Rohit Sharma-led team need to win their rest of the two matches to qualify for the semifinals.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh have their two games scheduled against India and Pakistan. Although the Tigers have won two of their three matches so far, they are not among the favourites to win the World Cup or even qualify for the semifinals for that matter. However, they can surely tinker with the results that are to follow.
If Bangladesh manage to pull off a heist against India, it would be another major upset in this edition of the T20 World Cup. This way, India’s chances of qualifying for the semifinals will be severely dented. This makes the India-Bangladesh match an important game for the Men in Blue. Talking in the same regard, Shakib Al Hasan has said that as they are not among the favourites to win the World Cup, the pressure will be on India.
"I think it will be a full house because India gets good support wherever they play. I think it will be a good game. India are the favourites heading into the match. They have come here to win the World Cup; we are not here to win the World Cup. You can understand the situation, if we win against India, it will be an upset and we will try our best to upset India,” said Hasan about the match.
Notably, the two teams will lock horns at the Adelaide Oval on Wednesday. It will be a must-win game for the Rohit Sharma-led team.
