On Monday, April 1, Rajasthan Royals secured a comprehensive six-wicket win against Mumbai Indians in the match 14th of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. This was the third straight victory for RR in the IPL 2024, emerging as one of the top teams in the early stages of the tournament. Chahal and Boult picked three wickets each to restrict MI to 126-run target. Riyan Parag continued his fine form and struck a consecutive half-century to help the Royals win the match by six wickets with 27 balls remaining.

BCCI to meet IPL owners on April 16, discussions on mega auction: Reports

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has scheduled a meeting with all the owners of the Indian Premier League (IPL) teams to have a discussion on various topics including next year’s mega auction. The meeting is reported to take place in Ahmedabad on April 16, the same day on which Gujarat Titans will face Delhi Capitals in Narendra Modi Stadium.  The Indian cricket board would likely discuss with the owners about the salary cap of the teams.

Former Indian cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar scolded the crowd at the Wankhede Stadium for booing Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya before the game against the Rajasthan Royals. The Indian all-rounder has been a point of criticism ever since he rejoined the Mumbai Indians in a trade from Gujarat Titans. During the toss, Manjrekar was heard saying, "Big round of applause to Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya and behave."

BCCI and IPL owners to discuss retentions ahead of IPL mega auction 2025: Reports

The BCCI has scheduled a meeting with all the owners of the IPL to hold discussions ahead of the mega auction next year.  Notably, the IPL owners are divided on the part of the number of retentions that teams could avail for next year’s mega auction. Some of the owners have asked to increase the number of retained players, arguing that the teams have established their base and that would enable them continuity in the following years. Another wing, which is in a suit of the least number of retentions instead argues over the reintroduction of the Right to Match card.
