The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League is growing intense with 50 matches already completed and 20 more to go ahead of the playoffs. The inaugural IPL champions, Rajasthan Royals, suffered their second defeat in the tournament after playing 10 games as the SunRisers Hyderabad clinched the last ball thriller on Thursday.

In the IPL 2024 standings, RR are comfortably sitting at the top despite a loss against SRH in their previous clash. RR have 16 points in 10 matches followed by KKR, LSG, and SRH, who all have 12 points but the two-time champions have played a game less.

Sunrisers Hyderabad returned to winning ways after losing two games by beating the Rajasthan Royals by one run in a thrilling contest. In the first innings,  Travis Head (58-off-44) and Nitish Reddy  (76*-off-42)  rebuilt the innings for SRH after they lost two quick wickets. Henrich Klaasen's unbeaten 42 in 19 balls took SRH above 200 runs. During the chase,  Rajasthan also had a horrific start after losing Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson when the score was one.  Then the young duo of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag combined to post a 134-run stand and rescue Rajasthan after the poor start. But quick wickets from T Natarajan and Pat Cummins turned the game in SRH's favour.

CSK pacer Deepak Chahar likely to be ruled out of IPL 2024

The Chennai Super Kings, who were without their star pacers Matheesha Pathirana (niggle) and Tushar Deshpande (flu), lost the game against PBKS on Wednesday by seven wickets as PBKS chased the target in 17.5 overs. The CSK camp dealt with a major setback as their star seamer Deepak Chahar, who got injured during the PBKS clash, is likely to be ruled out of the IPL 2024.  During the match against PBKS, Chennai dealt another blow as Deepak Chahar walked off the field after bowling just two balls.

Suresh Raina’s maternal cousin killed in road accident in Himachal’s Kangra: Reports

Former India cricketer Suresh Raina’s maternal cousin reportedly got killed in a hit-and-run case in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district. Raina’s cousin was among the two people who got killed as a van hit their scooter on the Pathankot-Mandia National Highway on Wednesday, May 1. The deceased have been identified as Saurabh Kumar (29), who was a resident of Gaggal, and 19-year-old Shubham.
