India climbs to third spot in FIH Rankings after Asian Champions Trophy 2023 title win
In the newly released rankings from the International Hockey Federation (FIH), the Indian men’s hockey team climbed to third place, after winning the Asian Champions Trophy 2023 title in Chennai. Team India equalled their best ranking in men’s hockey, which was achieved previously after they won the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics two years ago. Netherlands are currently on top of the rankings, closely followed by Olympic champions Belgium, while England, Germany, and Australia occupy fourth to sixth places respectively.
Real Madrid sign Kepa Arrizabalaga on one-year loan from Chelsea
Following the serious ACL tear to their first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, Real Madrid acted swiftly in the transfer market to sign in a replacement, Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea, on a one-year loan. Jessica Pegula defeated the Russian tennis player Liudmila Samsonova in straight sets 6-0, 6-1 within 44 minutes, she became the first American woman since Serena Williams in 2013, to win the Canadian Open title. Following her championship triumph, the 29-year-old took to her official Instagram account to dedicate her successful week in Canada to her late dog, Dex, in an emotional post.
