Deepika Kumari bags gold in Asia Cup 2024

Indian ace archer Deepika Kumari marked her return to the international archery stage with a gold. Kumari bagged gold in the women’s individual recurve category at the Asia Cup 2024 archery stage 1 in Baghdad, Iran, on February 25. This was the first time that Deepika was playing on the global circuit since she gave birth to a baby girl in December 2023. This was also her first international contest since the Paris Archery World Cup in June 2022.

Canada's Christopher Morales Williams sets  world indoor record in 400m

Canada's Christopher Morales Williams clinched the world indoor record in the 400 metres at the NCAA's Southeastern Conference championships on. The event took place in Fayetteville, Arkansas.  The 19-year-old University of Georgia sophomore registered a stellar time of 44.49 seconds to break the previous mark of 44.57 set by Kerron Clement of the United States in 2005 at the same venue.  Morales Williams made a massive improvement of almost a second on his previous best time set earlier in 2024.


Karen Khachanov beats  Jakub Mensik  to win  Qatar ExxonMobil Open

No. 2 seed Karen Khachanov took down Czech teenager Jakub Mensik 7-6 (12), 6-4 and clinched his sixth career title at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open in Doha.  The 27-year-old Russian had a dominant run throughout the tournament as did not drop a set all week. He continued this hot streak in the final by coming back from four set points in the opening set tiebreak.  "I stayed strong, I'm extremely happy that I won the first set. It lifted me a lot and gave me a lot of confidence to step up in the second," said Khachanov, after winning his first title since Zhuhai in September.
