The statement of Venables's family about his passing read, “We are devastated by the loss of a wonderful husband and father who passed away peacefully yesterday after a long illness. We would ask that privacy be given at this incredibly sad time to allow us to mourn the loss of this lovely man who we were so lucky to have had in our lives.”

Italy took home the Davis Cup title for the second time after beating Australia 2-0 in the final on Sunday.  As Matteo Arnaldi took down Alexei Popyrin in the first singles clash, Italy's number one Jannik Sinner finished off the final and clinched the title with an easy win against Alex De Minaur.

Australia's Alex De Minaur, after the Davis Cup loss, expressed he and his team will come back stronger next year.  "There hasn't been another nation that's gone back-to-back in the last two years, so we are showing a pretty good effort collectively," he told reporters.  "We are very, very close and it stinks like hell but, like I said last year in this same position, we'll be back. We'll get this. I mean, we've got a very, very strong future ahead of us."

Ineos Grenadiers sign  Norwegian Tobias Foss

Ineos Grenadiers, the World Tour cycling team, has signed Norwegian Tobias Foss for the next season.   26-year-old Foss is a former world-time trial champion and has been with Jumbo-Visma for the past three years.  "When I was 14 years old and started cycling, Edvald Boasson Hagen and Team Sky (now Ineos) became my idols and my favourite team. After that, Chris (Froome), Bradley (Wiggins) and Geraint (Thomas) inspired me as I dreamt of the Tour de France.," Foss said.

Mikaela Shiffrin wins record-extending 90th World Cup

American Mikaela Shiffrin registered a record-extending 90th World Cup win on Sunday with victory in the women's slalom at Killington in Vermont. Shiffrin had the fastest time in her opening run and edged out Olympic champion Petra Vlhova of Slovakia prevail by 33 hundredths of a second.  "It's a pretty incredible hill and especially in slalom I feel like I have a good mentality," Shiffrin said after her 55th World Cup slalom victory.
