Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat took to social media to urge the WFI to announce their official trial format for the Paris Olympics. She wrote, “Despite being just under three months away from the Paris Olympics, the Wrestling Federation of India has yet to announce an official trials format, including the date, time and venue. It is to be noted that all other federations have announced the qualification pathway and trials process with the clear format way back in December 2023 or, at the latest January 2024.”

Sumit Nagal, who made his ATP circuit return after a month suffered a straight-set defeat to Harold Mayot of France in the first round of the ATP Bordeaux Challenger. The 93-ranked player suffered defeat a straight-set defeat by 2-6, 2-6 to world number 130 in a clash that lasted for 70 minutes. This was the first time both players were up against each other. The Indian game had a decent start to the match, but couldn’t continue the momentum. He couldn’t convert breaking points and slumped to the Frenchman. 

Rafael Nadal to travel to Paris with intention of competing at French Open: Reports

Rafael Nadal, the 22-time Grand Slam champion, is reportedly going to travel to Paris to compete at the French Open later this month. Notably, in the build-up to the second Grand Slam of the season, the 37-year-old has been indecisive about playing at Roland Garros, especially after his loss to Hubert Hurkacz in the second round of the Italian Open. As per the report from AS, Rafael Nadal is going to continue with his training at the Mallorcan Academy before he heads to Paris next week to play in the French Open.

Reigning Olympic champion and India’s Golden Boy Neeraj Chopra clinched the gold medal at the Federation Cup 2024 in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday. Chopra produced a decent effort of 82.27 m in his first Indian event since becoming the Olympic champion in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The last time Chopra competed in India was at the same tournament in March 2021, where he secured the yellow metal with an 87.80m. Apart from Chopra, the tournament saw Asian Athletics Championships silver medallist DP Manu winning the silver medal with a throw of 82.06m. The bronze medal was won by Uttam Balasaheb Patil with his throw of 78.39 m.

Raccoon invades MLS game between Philadelphia Union and New York City FC

On Wednesday, May 15, a raccoon invaded the Major League Soccer (MLS) game at Subaru Park between the Philadelphia Union and the New York City FC, halting play for several minutes. The native mammal of the Northern American continent got massive cheers from the crowd in Philly, who chanted “Raccoon, Racoon,” while it managed to evade several stadium workers. The raccoon was eventually caught by the workers at Subaru Park, who were using trash cans and other objects to get the job done. The Philadelphia Union sent out a post on their official X account to inform that the raccoon was put in good hands with a pest company following which it was “safely released.”
