After a thrilling 1st Test between India and New Zealand in Kanpur which ended in a draw, the action now shifts to Mumbai for the series decider. The 2nd and final Test is scheduled to take place at Wankhede Stadium from December 3-7 and there has been lot of excitement and buzz with international red-ball cricket returning to City of Dreams after a long gap of 5 years.
The weather in Mumbai had been hot and humid over the course of last few days but things dramatically changed with the date of Test match approaching. Much to the surprise of everyone, the city witnessed heavy rains on December 1 which also forced India and New Zealand to cancel their practice sessions which was scheduled to take place at Wankhede on Wednesday.
Suddenly, the weather has become cooler in Mumbai which is a good sign for both the teams. However, the threat of rain is also looming over the Test match. Amid the drizzle on Thursday, Team India decided to have an indoor practice session just a day before the start of contest.
Will rain play spoilsport on Day 1?
With quite a lot of rain in last couple of days, the groundsmen at Wankhede have a big task up their sleeves to have the pitch and field ready for 1st Test, which is slated to begin at IST 9:30 AM onwards on December 3, Friday. But things might get tough for them if there is any more rain. Here is how the weather is expected to be on Day 1:
If the forecast is to be believed, fans can expect an uninterrupted day of cricket with rain gods likely to stay away. As the stadium is near the sea, humidity is also going to be a key factor which both the sides will be well aware of. And although there is no rain prediction as of now, the weather in Mumbai can turn the tides at any moment and the cricket lovers would just be praying that it isn't the case, at least for the next five days.
