After the fourth day of the ongoing World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand was abandoned due to rain, there is still some hope to get a result in the match with a reserve day scheduled on June 23. However, with New Zealand still trailing India by 116 runs and 8 wickets remaining, both the sides will need some time to put themselves in a winning position. While there was a lot of disappointment on Monday, things could be completely different on Tuesday.

No rain expected on Day 5

As per the current forecast, there is no rain expected on Day 5 of the ongoing WTC final match in Southampton. While there will be some drizzle till night (around 3 AM), the weather is expected to improve by the time we get set for the first ball of the day at 10:30 AM (Local time).

Although the whole day is expected to be cloudy with overcast conditions, there is a possibility that sun could be out during the afternoon session. Fortunately, as of now, it is expected to be a clear day in Southampton on Tuesday with only 5-10% chances of rain. Both the teams could be set for a grueling day of cricket with as many as 98 overs scheduled to be bowled.

Southampton weather for June 22 (Local time)

First Session - 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM (15°C with cloudy weather)

Second Session - 1:10 PM to 3:25 PM (17°C with possibility of sun out)

Third Session - 3:45 PM to 6 PM (17°C with mostly cloudy weather)

What about the reserve day?

The weather forecast is bright even for Wednesday (June 23) which is the reserve day for this match. If the things can remain as it is and there is no rain for the next two days, we could have around 180 overs in the WTC final 2021 which might prove to be enough to enforce an outcome in the overcast and cloudy conditions where batting won't be easy on a wicket which is deteriorating everyday.
