The ongoing World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand is currently very evenly poised in Southampton. Despite of persistent rain throughout the most part of the contest, some cricket on Day 2, Day 3 and Day 5 has ensured that an outcome is still possible on the final day (June 23) of the match, reserved for a similar situation.

Although the match is still likely to end in a draw, it must be noted that if 98 overs are bowled on Wednesday, either side could force a result in case if there is a batting collapse. However, all these permutations and combinations depend on one major thing - Weather!

No rain expected on Day 6

Much to the delight of cricket fans, the forecast for the reserve day is quite bright as of now. It is probably the day where there is least amount of chances of rain. While there is a possibility of slight drizzle early in the morning just like Tuesday, it is almost certain that there won't be any loss of overs in the first two sessions of the day.

The only likely possibility of stoppage could be due to bad light as it tends to get dark early in Southampton. However, with a possibility of some sunshine during the afternoon, it could result in a thrilling end to the finale.

Southampton weather for June 23 (Local time)

First Session – 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM (16° C with cloudy weather)

Second Session – 1:10 PM to 3:25 PM (19° C with cloudy weather)

Third Session – 3:45 PM to 6 PM (20° C with possibility of sun out)
