Yuzvendra Chahal’s hat-trick and a spectacular catch from Dewald Brevis were the main highlights of this closely contested fixture.
Talking about the first innings, CSK’s batting was almost propelled single-handedly by Sam Curran’s brilliant innings. After losing the toss and being put to bat first, the CSK openers had a dismal start and were dismissed early on. A brilliant knock of 88 from 47 balls, including nine 4s and four 6s, Sam by Sam Curran injected some much-needed confidence into CSK’s batting. Another impactful cameo from youngster Dewald Brevis saw him scoring 32 off 26 balls and helped CSK reach the 190 mark. However, the spotlight was also on Yuzvendra Chahal, who turned the game around with a remarkable four-wicket over, including the first hat-trick of IPL 2025, finishing with figures of 4 for 32 in his three overs.

In the run chase, the PBKS openers gave a decent start to the team with Priyansh Arya's partner Prabhsimran Singh carrying on to score 54 off 36 balls. Shreyas Iyer played yet another brilliant innings, scoring 72 off 41 balls but wasn’t able to see through his team till the end as he was cleaned up by Pathirana. Shashank Singh also added a handy 23 off 12 balls, helping Punjab chase down the total.
