Kuldeep Yadav, the Indian unorthodox spinner, became the latest bowler to reach the coveted mark of 300 wickets in international cricket, achieving the big feat during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 clash against Pakistan on Sunday, February 23. At the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Kuldeep Yadav’s 300th international wicket was Salman Agha, who tried to smash him across the line for a maximum, only to find Ravindra Jadeja at the point region.
The 30-year-old also took the wickets of Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah shortly after, to help India bowl out Pakistan for 241 runs before Virat Kohli’s hundred helped them chase down the target with six wickets in hand and 45 balls to spare. After making his return to international cricket in the better part of four months, following a swift recovery from a sports hernia surgery, the left-armer has slowly but surely started to reach his optimal bowling rhythm, which bodes well for India.
Kuldeep Yadav is the 12th Indian bowler to get past 300 international wickets, to find his name among some of the greats, including names like Anil Kumble, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kapil Dev, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, and Ajit Agarkar, among others. Among the active Indian cricketers at the international level, he is fourth in the list of highest wicket-takers in all formats behind Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, and Jasprit Bumrah.
