The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the schedule of the 2023 Cricket World Cup (CWC) set to take place in India from October 5 to November 19. The event will see the warm-up games starting from September 29. The 10-team event will kick off at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad with the defending champions England taking on New Zealand in the opening game. India, the hosts and one of the favorites for the 2023 World Cup, will play two warm-up matches before the main tournament.

India’s first warm-up match will be against England, the defending champions on September 30 in Guwahati. The match will be a high-profile encounter, as both teams will look to test their strengths and weaknesses ahead of the mega event.

India’s second warm-up match will be against Qualifier 1, the winner of the World Cup Qualifier tournament that is currently taking place in Zimbabwe, on October 3 in Thiruvananthapuram. Currently, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka are top of their respective groups and are primed to qualify for the main tournament.

The warm-up matches will be played across three venues: Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram and Guwahati. Hyderabad will host three warm-up matches, but none involving India. Thiruvananthapuram will host two warm-up matches, including India’s second game and Guwahati will host only one warm-up match, which will be India’s first game. India will kick off their World Cup 2023 campaign on Sunday, October 8 against Australia in Chennai.
