The FIFA World Cup 2022 has entered its final group stage fixtures as the four teams from the Group G and H are remaining the Round of 16 qualifications. Currently, Portugal are sitting at the top of the Group H and are expected to finish at the first place, which will set their Round of 16 fixture against the second-placed team of the Group G.

Cristiano Ronaldo-led Portugal are placed at the top spot with six points in two games and are followed by Ghana, South Korea and Uruguay respectively. Portugal are scheduled to square off against South Korea in their final group stage fixture in the FIFA World Cup 2022.

If Portugal win or play a draw against South Korea in their third and the final match in the group stage then Cristiano Ronaldo's team will finish at the top of the standings. However, goal difference will decide their position in the group if they lose to Korea Republic and Ghana defeat Uruguay in other fixture.

Who will Portugal face in the Round of 16?

Portugal are set to face South Korea in their final group stage fixture on Friday, December 2 at the Education City Stadium. While the World No. 9 team have already qualified for the knockouts, the match against South Korea is just to determine their standing in the group.

  • If Portugal finished at the top of the Group H then they will face the second-placed team in the Group G that include Brazil, Switzerland, Cameroon and Serbia (High chances of facing Switzerland).
  • Finishing at the second place in the Group H can lead Portugal to square off against the top placed side in the Group G (High chances of facing Brazil).

Meanwhile, Brazil are leading the Group G points table with six points in two games followed by Switzerland, Cameroon and Serbia, respectively. Both the groups have identical standings as Brazil required to win or play a draw against Cameroon to finish at the top while a loss will lead the results to be declared by the goal difference.
