The FIFA World Cup 2022 has been extremely entertaining with some incredible upsets, high-scoring fixtures and nail-biting finishes. But now with a few group-stage matches remaining, SportsTiger predicts all teams which will reach the Round of 16 stage of the tournament.
So far in Qatar, 12 teams have qualified for the pre-quarter-final stage and now the remaining eight teams will be gearing up for the remaining two spots. Group G will be playing first where Brazil will face Cameroon and Serbia is set to take on Switzerland. Then in Group H, Portugal will be taking on South Korea while Uruguay is set to lock horns against Ghana in a rematch that has been 12 years in the making.
From Group G, the Brazilian team has already clinched one of the two spots but the result of the game against Cameroon will decide which spot they finish. The Seleção Canarinho has so far been one of the best teams in the tournament and hence we believe that Thiago Silva’s men will defeat Cameroon and secure the top spot from Group G.
Whereas for the game between Serbia and Switzerland, the Swiss have a better chance to qualify as they have a better, more rounded team. Under Murat Yakin, the Rossocrociati have played well as they defeated Ghana thanks to Breel Embolo and put on a great performance against Brazil which was neutralised by Casemiro’s late goal.
Now talking about Group H, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal has already qualified for the pre-quarter-finals after winning their opening two games. Hence we believe, that Os Navegadores will continue their winning run and qualify on top of their group.
Then moving towards the Uruguay-Ghana fixture, the Black Stars are looking like the better team with some quality performances in their opening two fixtures. Meanwhile, the Uruguayan team hasn’t found its rhythm so far. They have failed to score a single goal so far and hence have a chance to crumble once again against Ghana.
List of teams qualified for Round of 16:
Group A: Netherlands, Senegal
Group B: England, USA
Group C: Argentina, Poland
Group D: France Australia
Group E: Japan, Spain
Group F: Morocco, Croatia
Group G: Brazil, Switzerland
Group H: Portugal, Ghana
