Indian team have announced their squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series, three-match ODI series and two-match Test series against South Africa which is set to happen from December 2023 to January 2024. Interestingly, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Jasprit Bumrah aren't part of the three-match ODI series against South Africa, thus it makes us wonder who has replaced all these players and who will captain team India in that ODI series on South African soil.

- Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sai Sudharsan and Rajat Patidar have been selected for this three-match ODI series over regular players like Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli.
- Tilak Varma who was seen playing a game against Bangladesh in the 2023 Asia Cup has been selected in this ODI squad against South Africa for three-match series.
- India's second-choice wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan is also not part of this ODI squad and Sanju Samson has got a call-up for this ODI series from the management after a long time.
- Yuzvendra Chahal has got a call-up in the ODI setup and was last seen playing an ODI match against New Zealand in January 2023.
