English pacer Saqib Mahmood announced himself in style during the fourth T20I of the ongoing five-match series against India at the MCA Stadium in Pune with a triple-wicket maiden. In his first match of the series, Saqib Mahmood picked up the wickets of Sanju Samson and in-form Tilak Varma on the first two balls of his first over before sending Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav back into the pavilion without troubling the scorers.

Born in Birmingham, England, Saqib Mahmood, belonging to Pakistani descent, has been a part of the national team setup since 2019, making his debut in all formats of the game. Although Saqib Mahmood hasn't been able to cement his spot in the England cricket team in any format, mainly to frequent injury issues rather the inconsistency in his bowling, his performance against India this evening could go a long way in helping him become a regular member of the side.

The right-arm fast bowler has picked up six wickets in two Test matches and 14 wickets in nine matches in the ODI format thus far in England colours. Before making his latest T20I appearance against India, Saqib Mahmood had 18 wickets in 18 matches in the shortest format of the game.
