
On Tuesday, June 3, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six runs, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to lift the coveted Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 title. Moreover, the win was even more special as after three years, the premier T20 franchise cricket tournament saw a new champion emerge.
While the match had its own moments, the tournament saw some extraordinary performances from several players, be it with the bat, ball or in the field. With the RCB being crowned the new champions, Gujarat Titans’ (GT) pacer, Prasidh Krishna bagged the Purple Cap for the season.
Prasidh Krishna wins Purple Cap in IPL 2025 with 25 wickets
It is important to noted that the Purple Cap isn’t determined on the basis of some subjective analysis, instead it is directly proportional to the number of wickets a player takes in a season. In IPL 2025, GT’s pace sensation, Prasidh Krishna picked up 25 wickets across across 15 matches to claim the Purple Cap.
He bowled 59 overs across the 15 innings in IPL 2025, conceding 488 runs at an economy of 8.27. He best bowling innings came against the five-time champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), where he picked up a four-wicket haul and surpassed Noor Ahmad in the list of the most wickets, registering figures of 4/41 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
