The whole cricketing world was left in shock as legendary Australian cricketer Shane Warne passed away on Friday evening. No one was ready to accept the fact that a person who was so full of energy and enthusiasm and showed great interest in cricket anywhere in the world will leave them so early. 52 is not an age to bid adieu but none can forfeit what is written. Warne, who was mourning the demise of countryman Rod Marsh a few hours ago, himself left everyone stunned.

The cause of the death was suspected heart attack but that was also hard to believe for many. Warne was one of those cricketers who lived the liveliest life. He was in Thailand when all of this happened. Anyway, what's happened was destined and no one could have avoided that. What is left to be done is to remember one of the greats of the game like he would have wanted.

Everyone in the cricketing fraternity is mourning the demise of the cricketer and players from India and Sri Lanka also joined them. Both team players were seen sporting a black armband during the second day of the first Test as they walked out. The reason was the one mentioned above, to mourn the demise of Shane Warne and give him the respect he deserved.

Jadeja, Ashwin take India ahead

Talking of the game, the overnight pair of R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja resumed India's first innings from 357/6. Earlier on Day 1, India chose to bat first as Rohit Sharma won his first toss as Test captain. The decision proved right as the opening pair of Sharma and Mayank Agarwal raced to a 50-run partnership in no time. However, the duo departed in their 30s. But a resilient half-century from Hanuma Vihari and a solid 45 from Virat Kohli helped India build the foundation.

After that, it was all Rishabh Pant with his out-of-the-box shots. The wicketkeeper batter scored all around the ground but unfortunately, fell four runs short of his century. Ravindra Jadeja also looked good on Day 1 and will hope to give India a big first-innings total.
