With the start of the  IPL 2023  playoff stage with Qualifier 1 between  Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings, fans are clued in for every delivery. With a lot of focus on each ball, fans discovered that there was a symbol of a tree on every dot ball delivered on the broadcast.

Hence with every ball, the curiosity regarding what the tree denotes increased until it was revealed that this part of BCCI's green initiative. Under the program, the BCCI  will be planting 500 trees for each dot ball bowled in IPL 2023 Playoffs.

Going back to the match, Gujarat won the toss and put Chennai into bat. Starting with a bang, Ruturaj Gaikwad started scoring from the first over while Devon Conway struggled to score. The 2021 Orange Cap winner carried the majority of the scoring responsibility and reached his 50 in 36 balls.

But after his dismissal, CSK suffered a mini-collapse as the middle-order failed to score at a consistent rate. After a slightly muted finish, Chennai posted 172. For Gujarat Titans, Mohit Sharma was one of the top bowlers as picked up two wickets while giving away 31 runs.

Reacting to this performance, Sharma said, "The ball is sticking onto the surface, there was a bit of moisture early on which made the ball stop. This is a good score on this surface and we'll have to bat well to chase it down. The pitch is slightly sticky, need to concentrate on ones and twos. I wanted to drag the length back and not give them room to play shots. There is no dew at all."
