On Monday, February 24, the New Zealand cricket team made a couple of changes in their playing XI against Bangladesh for their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 clash, which is set to be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Daryl Mitchell has been left out of the Kiwi side due to illness, getting replaced by Rachin Ravindra, who makes his return to the national team after recovering from a blow to the head a couple of weeks ago.
After winning the toss and deciding to field first, Mitchell Santner, the captain of New Zealand, also remarked that Kyle Jamieson has replaced Nathan Smith as a like-for-like player in the lineup on a pitch in Rawalpindi, which is expected to assist the fast bowlers early on. Following their convincing win by 60 runs in the opening match of the tournament against hosts Pakistan at the National Bank Stadium in Rawalpindi, they are a win away from making the semi-finals.
New Zealand are currently on a four-match winning streak in ODI cricket in Pakistan, and such consistency could lead to winning the coveted Champions Trophy this time around. Meanwhile, Bangladesh have also made two changes in their playing XI after losing to India in their opening clash in the tournament, bringing in Mahmudullah for Soumya Sarkar and Nahid Rana for Tanzim Hasan Sakib.
Below are the playing XI of Bangladesh and New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 clash:
Bangladesh: Tanzid Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto (c), Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Tohwid Hridoy, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Mahmudullah, Jaker Ali, Rishad Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Nahid Rana, Mustafizur Rahman
New Zealand: Will Young, Devon Conway, Kane Williamson, Rachin Ravindra, Tom Latham (wk), Glenn Phillips, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner (c), Kyle Jamieson, Matt Henry, Will O'Rourke
