After a heartbreaking loss in the first Test of the five-match series, the Rohit Sharma-led Men in Blue are taking on England in the second Test at the Dr. Y. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. While the hosts won the toss in the second Test, the side opted to bat first.

At the toss, both teams announced changes to their respective Playing XI. While India named three changes, England called for two. Speaking of Team India, while the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul to miss the second Test with injuries, Rohit at toss revealed that Mohammed Siraj will too has been rested.

Siraj to miss second Test due to workload management

The BCCI at toss revealed that Siraj has been released from the squad for the second Test to manage workload. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), BCCI said, “Mr Mohd. Siraj has been released from the India squad for the second Test against England in Vizag. The decision was taken keeping in mind the duration of the series and the amount of cricket he has played in recent times.”

However, they further added that he will be available for selection for the third Test. With Siraj’s unavailability, Avesh Khan has re-joined the side for the ongoing second Test.
