Whenever there is talk of Indian cricket, the one common name that comes in everyone’s mind is Sachin Tendulkar. The former Indian cricketer has ruled with his bat over two decades, facing bowlers from different generations.

From being the youngest cricketer to debut for the Indian team, to becoming the only cricketer to play 200 Test matches and score 100 centuries, Tendulkar has proved himself to be among the greatest cricketers in the world. His stellar performance on the cricket field has earned him different titles such as Master Blaster, Little Master and God of Cricket.

The title God of Cricket is enough to tell what influence Tendulkar had throughout his career in international cricket. However, the title is not earned by him in a single day. Here are some of Sachin Tendulkar’s records in his career that made him God of Cricket.

Sachin Tendulkar Career Records

First player to play 200 Test matches

In today’s time, playing 100 Test matches is considered a big achievement in cricket. But Sachin Tendulkar is the only cricketer in the world to play 200 Test matches. Only James Anderson from England has reached near his record with 188 Test matches in his career.

100 centuries

One of the most famous records by Sachin Tendulkar is for the 100 centuries in international cricket. His record is still untouched by many of the great players in the world. The former Indian cricketer has scored a record 51 centuries in Test cricket along with 49 centuries in the ODI format.

Most runs in international cricket (Test, ODIs and T20Is)

There have been many great batters who have played before and after Sachin Tendulkar in international cricket, but none of those players are anywhere near his record of most runs in international cricket. Tendulkar has amassed 34,357 runs in his international career of 664 matches across all formats (Test, ODI and T20I). He is also the all-time highest run-getter in Tests (15921) and ODIs (18426), while he played just one T20I match in his career where he scored just 10 runs.

Highest run-getter in ODI World Cup

Watching the Indian cricket team lifting the World Cup trophy at Lords in 1983, the young Sachin Tendulkar decided to make a career in cricket at the age of 10 years, with a dream to win another World Cup for the country. His hunger to win the cup could also be seen with his performance in the ODI World Cup as he is the all-time highest run-scorer of the tournament. Tendulkar has amassed 2278 runs from 45 matches in his ODI World Cup career, with six hundred and 15 half-centuries, including a memorable campaign in the 2003 World Cup in South Africa. However, after continuous heart break in all previous editions, Tendulkar finally lived his dream in his final attempt when India won the ODI World Cup in 2011, after 28 years of the historic Lords triumph.
