In the second match of double-header Saturday in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) are taking on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 19. However, both teams are coming off a defeat in their respective previous matches, the hosts will be vying to go all out and register a win to get back into the season, breaking their three-match losing streak.

In a notable change, it was Riyan Parag who walked out for RR, standing in for Sanju Samson, who left the field in their last match in IPL 2025 with some visible pain. As the two skippers walked out, it was the LSG skipper, Rishabh Pant, who returned on top and elected to bat first.

“We were looking to bowl, it is a little bit warm under lights, should be better than the last time. Vaibhav the youngster comes in,” Riyan Parag said at the toss, while confirming a forced change in the side. However, on the eve of the match, RR head coach Rahul Dravid had confirmed Samson’s absence while confirming an abdominal injury to the wicketkeeper-batter.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Dravid said, “Sanju experienced a bit of pain in the abdominal area." "So we have gone for scans. He has done some scans today so we are waiting the results of those scans. And then once we get a bit more clarity around the scans and the severity of [the injury] we'll take a decision going forward and we'll see what happens," Dravid added.

On the other hand, LSG also called for a change in their side as they called in Prince Yadav for Akash Deep.
