Lucknow Super Giants will lock horns with Punjab Kings in match number 21 of the Indian Premier League 2023. While the Shikhar Dhawan-led side are coming into this match on the back of two-match losing streak, the Lucknow Super Giants are second in the points table with three wins and one loss.
What was shocking to see in the match number 21 was the PBKS regular captain Shikhar Dhawan did not come out for the toss. In his place, it was England all-rounder Sam Curran who took the field as the stand-in skipper at the toss in match against LSG at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.
After being asked of Shikhar Dhawan’s absence, Curran replied, “Shikhar picked up an injury last game, don’t know how bad it is but hopefully he won’t be out long.”
Ahead of the start of the match, Punjab Kings won the toss and opted to bowl first.
