The New Zealand Cricket on Monday, 11th September announced its 15-member squad for the ODI World Cup 2023. In the biggest surprise, the side saw the return of veteran Kane Williamson, who continues to recover from an injury he sustained during IPL 2023 opener in Ahmedabad against Chennai Super Kings.

While the 2015 and 2019 runners-up named Williamson as their skipper for the 2023 edition of the Cricket World Cup, wicketkeeper-batter Tom Latham has been named his deputy. While the 15-man side was announced in a pictured post, the cricket board in a unique instance also shared the 15 names in a video message which featured family members of the players.
The family members called for each players Black Caps number followed by the player's name. The video has garnered more than 1.1 million views on New Zealand Cricket’s official X handle in six hours so far.
Not only the video has gone viral since it was shared, cricket enthusiast and fans have dropped heartwarming reactions, calling it to be the “best” way to announce the squad.
The 2015 and 2019 runners-up of the ODI World Cup, New Zealand will kick start their campaign against defending champions England at the Narendra Modi Stadium on October 5. However, ahead of their tournament opener, the Williamson-led side will play against Pakistan in a warm-up match on September 29 in Hyderabad.
