Preview

A change of formats has not affected India’s form at all as the Men in Blue convincingly won the first T20I against the Windies. After posting a massive 190/6, India restricted the hosts to a paltry 122/8 to walk away with a massive 68-run win. Now, as the caravan moves to St Kitts for the second T20I, Rohit Sharma’s focus will be to replicate the performance from the first game and go 2-0 up. Meanwhile, West Indies will look to bounce back and remain in contention to win the series.

Pitch Report

The Warner Park pitch has favored the batters in the CPL games played last year and is expected to behave the same way in the second T20I between India and West Indies. Batters will enjoy the even bounce while bowlers, especially spinners will get some help in the middle overs.

Team Analysis

India

The return of India’s mainstays has further strengthened the Indian unit. Captain Rohit Sharma led from the front as he scored a brilliant half-century. He was aided well by Dinesh Karthik who finished the innings on a high for India. There were some concerns as well in batting. Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and Hardik Pandya could not go big. In bowling, however, India had no issues as all of the bowlers contributed in some way or the other. While Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled an economical spell, R Ashwin and Arshdeep Singh chipped in with two wickets each. Ravi Bishnoi was also up to the task as the leggie claimed two wickets. With an emphatic win, India won’t tinker with the playing eleven.

West Indies

West Indies have failed to address the concerns and as a result, their performance has not improved from the ODI series. None of the West Indies batters looked threatening and failed to score big in a tough chase. Such was the performance of the Windies that the highest individual score was 20 (Shamarh Brooks). The return of Hetmyer and Holder did not prove enough. Nevertheless, the hosts will look to correct the mistakes from the first game and get their act together in the second T20I to challenge India. This was probably the perfect combination for West Indies, so chances of changes to the eleven look grim.

Match Prediction

Conclusion

India have a much stronger side as compared to the Windies and the desired momentum. Therefore, the Men in Blue will be the favorites to win the 2nd T20I.
