One of the most popular Ferrari drivers, Carlos Sainz has shared an update on his injury he sustained during a traditional charity football match on Tuesday night. With the Monaco Grand Prix coming up this weekend, there were speculations if the Spanish driver is fit to participate in the upcoming race. Sainz needed medical attention for his right upper leg, leaving his fans and teammates worried. However, the 28-year-old racer shared a health update stating that the impact of the incident won’t affect his performance.
Taking to his Instagram, he said that he is absolutely well and ready to race in the Monaco Grand Prix. On his Instagram story, he wrote, “Hi everyone. Just wanted to let you know that I am well and completely ready to race this weekend in Monaco. What happened yesterday was simply a contact during the traditional charity football match, but it was not an injury. I enjoyed playing football as I always do and now, I am really looking forward to the weekend.”
Notably, the forthcoming Friday marks the onset of the Monaco Grand Prix weekend, and Sainz will be expected to put forward his best game.
The Spaniard currently holds fifth position in the world championship rankings. Speaking of the football match, it was hosted by the Children Sports Association, and is an annual charity football match that pits drivers and other F1 personnel against a ‘Star’ team ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix. Clearly, it wasn’t a good night for Ferrari drivers, with Sainz getting injured and Charles Leclerc missing out on two goals. However, they ended up winning the match 4-3.
