After a video of Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka having an animated discussion with the captain KL Rahul went viral last week, there have been speculations about a possible change of leader in the IPL 2024. But the assistant coach of LSG, Lance Klusener spoke about how the team management is not thinking of captaincy change currently.
Notably, it was the loss for Lucknow Super Giants loss against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024, conceding a total in excess of 160 runs inside 10 overs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, which prompted the owners to get into the face of the captain. The defeat came at the worst possible time for LSG, putting their hopes of qualifying through to the IPL playoffs in jeopardy.
As per the report from Sportstar, Lance Klusener addressed the media ahead of Lucknow Super Giants’ clash against Delhi Capitals on Tuesday, May 14. He said, “Certainly no discussions around that (captaincy). I don’t see any problem with some robust discussion between two cricket lovers. It’s a storm in a teacup.”
The assistant coach of Lucknow Super Giants also talked about the inconsistent performances for the team during the IPL 2024 season. The 52-year-old remarked, “We would like to be just a little bit more consistent. If we want to win the IPL, we probably have to win five in a row, which I think RCB has just done. So it is absolutely possible. That’s just the big picture, we have to go over the line tomorrow before we have any other aspirations.”
“I think this IPL has been exceptionally tough for him (KL Rahul) because we have kept losing wickets at regular stages which hasn’t allowed him to kick on where he likes,” he added.
