After finishing the FIFA World Cup 2022 at the third place, Croatia star midfielder Luka Modric is likely to end his World Cup career while the speculations have been made over his international career post World Cup. The 37-year-old Modric has made his country proud by back-to-back World Cup podium finishes and added another feather in his cap.

Croatia defeated Morocco 2-1 to claim the third place in the FIFA World Cup 2022 after losing the 2018 World Cup final against France. In the World Cup semifinals, Croatia faced a 3-0 defeat against Argentina while Morocco lost 2-0 to France to qualify for the third place play-off.

Luka Modric is among the few stars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who are likely to play their last World Cup in Qatar. Modric is still a midfield genius, however, he rarely completes 90 minutes in a match. Modric is the most capped Croatia player of all time with 161 appearances for the Vatreni and has played his fourth World Cup in Qatar.

However, the UEFA Euro 2024 will be played after almost 19 months, which means Modric will be approaching his 39 at the time the finals will be played. Earlier, the Croatia captain has ended the rumours about his international retirement.

Modric said in Qatar, "No, I won't leave the national team. I feel very fit, very good and I'll stay here until I can. There's no reason to retire. It's my choice. People say I should leave and focus on club football. I don't agree."

Croatia defender Josko Gvardiol and Mislav Orsic scored a goal each in the first half to help their side win the game. While Gvardiol opened the scoring in the seventh minute with a well-timed header in the box, Orsic scored an amazing goal over Morocco goalkeeper  Yassine Bounou in the 42nd minute.

Although, Morocco fought back as defender Achraf Dari equalised after just two minutes of the Croatia opener, but conceded another goal in the first half. Croatia defended their one-goal lead throughout the second half to claim the victory.
