Following the fifth defeat in first seven matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season last night, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are languishing in ninth place on the points table. Earlier this morning, Pat Cummins, who captains SRH in the IPL, is rumoured to be leaving the side for the remainder of the ongoing season after his wife sent out a cryptic post on her official Instagram account with their picture from the airport while standing beside the luggage, captioning it “Goodbye India, we have loved visiting this beautiful country”.

While many of the fans are considering the post from Pat Cummins’ wife Becky as his way of telling everyone about departing from India midway the IPL 2025 season, there, but there is no information on whether he accompanied his better half to Australia. It is also important to note that there isn’t any official confirmation to this regard made by either the Australian captain, his team SRH, or the IPL website.

It was just last night when SRH lost to Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai by four wickets with 11 balls to spare. After the destructive SRH batting lineup struggled their way to 162/5 total in their allotted 20 overs in tough batting conditions, their bowling attack wasn’t quite up to the mark as a unit, and the three-wicket haul from Pat Cummins was far from enough to force a win on the night.

It wasn't the easiest of wicket, 160 was a few short: Pat Cummins after MI defeat at Wankhede Stadium

In the post-match interview, Pat Cummins spoke about how SRH were a few runs short against MI during their batting effort. He was quoted as saying, as per ESPNcricinfo, “Wasn't the easiest of wicket, 160 was a few short. It was a tricky wicket, cutters were gripping. They shut down a lot of our scoring areas. I thought we had all bases covered, 160 you feel a little bit short, I thought we gave it a good crack with the ball.”

“We thought we needed wickets, had plenty of death bowling in Eshan, Harshal and myself. Needed just an over or two, so we gave it to the leggie [Rahul Chahar]. Got to play well away from home to make the finals, unfortunately not clicked yet,” he added. Moreover, SRH are second from bottom in the IPL 2025 points table, just ahead of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) due to their slightly better net run rate (NRR).
